If you have questions or would like to exercise your privacy rights, contact us at contact@austrecipes.com.
1) Who we are
AustRecipes is a recipe website sharing food content and related articles for home cooks. For data-protection purposes, we are the controller of personal information collected through the Site.
2) Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: (a) you provide it to us, (b) it’s collected automatically, and (c) it’s provided by third parties.
a) Information you provide
- Newsletter sign‑ups: name and email address.
- Comments & forms: name, email, website URL, comment content, messages.
- Downloads or purchases (if offered): name, email, order details, postal address where required, and limited billing details handled by our payment processors. We do not store full credit‑card numbers.
- User‑generated content: ratings, recipe photos, reviews.
b) Information collected automatically
- Usage data: IP address, device type, browser, pages viewed, time on page, referring/exit pages.
- Cookies and similar technologies: pixels, tags, SDKs used for analytics, performance, and advertising (see Cookies section).
c) Information from third parties
- Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics 4) give us aggregated insights.
- Advertising partners (e.g., Mediavine/Google AdSense or similar) may provide reporting on ad performance.
- Email service providers (e.g., Flodesk/Mailchimp) store subscriber information and engagement metrics.
3) How we use information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Site and our content.
- Send newsletters and updates you request (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- Moderate comments and community features; prevent spam and abuse.
- Analyze Site performance and audience trends.
- Personalize content and measure/serve advertising.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
Legal bases (EEA/UK): consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests (e.g., website security and analytics), and compliance with legal duties.
4) Sharing of information
We share information with:
- Service providers: hosting/CDN, analytics, email delivery, customer support, security, payment processing.
- Advertising & affiliate partners: to display ads and track referrals/commissions.
- Business transfers: if we sell/merge/reorganize part or all of our business.
- Legal: to comply with law, enforce policies, or protect rights/safety.
We do not sell personal information in the conventional sense. Where U.S. state laws classify certain sharing for targeted advertising as a “sale” or “share,” you may opt out (see Your rights below).
5) Cookies and tracking technologies
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Essential: required for core functionality (security, load balancing).
- Performance & analytics: help us understand usage (e.g., GA4).
- Functionality: remember preferences.
- Advertising: measure ads and show relevant promotions.
You can manage cookies via your browser settings and (where available) our on‑site Cookie Preferences tool. Disabling some cookies may affect Site functionality.
6) Data retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. For example, comment metadata may be kept indefinitely to recognize follow‑up comments, and subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
7) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; use the Site at your own risk.
8) International transfers
If you access the Site from outside Australia, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place (e.g., standard contractual clauses where applicable).
9) Your privacy rights
