Do you have a recipe book?
Not yet, watch this space! My plan is to release one in Spring 2026. (As of this writing, that’s still on the horizon.)
Do you take orders for cakes or other baked goods?
Not anymore. I used to bake for friends and family gatherings, but these days I focus exclusively on developing and sharing recipes here on AustRecipes.
Why are your recipes displayed in grams instead of cups or ounces?
Since 2024, I’ve provided options to view recipes in both grams and cups. However, my recipes are developed in grams, and I can’t guarantee identical results using cup conversions. Precision matters in baking!
Can you provide calories or nutritional information for your recipes?
Unfortunately not. Accurately calculating nutritional data is a big undertaking, and I prefer to invest my time into creating new recipes and beautiful photos instead. That said, you’re welcome to use calorie-tracking websites to enter the ingredient lists and estimate nutrition.
What if I can’t find a certain ingredient in my country?
If I know it’s hard to source in some regions, I include alternatives in the ingredients list. If you don’t see one, just reach out via email and I’d be happy to suggest a substitute suited to your locale.
Something went wrong with a recipe, can you help troubleshoot?
Absolutely! Baking is a science, and even small details can affect outcomes. First, do a careful read-through of the recipe. If that doesn’t solve it, contact me via email and I’ll work with you to figure it out.
Is blogging your full-time job?
Yes, it essentially is. I’m self-employed, and blogging is my main focus. The schedule is flexible, sometimes I take breaks, and sometimes I’m full throttle (especially during holidays like November and December). Long story short: it’s not glamorous, but it’s rewarding and it took lots of hard work to get here.
How do you make your money?
Right now, AustRecipes doesn’t generate revenue. My focus is on growing the site and building an audience I can eventually support through advertising, such as Google AdSense, so recipes can stay free for everyone.
Do you take your own photos? What equipment do you use?
Yes, my photos are usually shot by me. I typically use a Nikon D500 with a 50 mm f/1.4 lens nowadays; previously, I used a Nikon D3100 with the same lens. For videos, I often use my phone. Portraits or event shots may sometimes be taken by guest photographers.
Can I guest-post or advertise on AustRecipes?
Not at the moment. I only post recipes I’ve personally created and tested, that’s what my readers trust. I’m not currently accepting outside advertising or sponsored placements.
Can I send you a product or ingredient to review?
Products and ingredients can be sent on a gifted basis, but there’s no obligation for me to feature them. If I do share something, I’ll follow applicable advertising guidelines and clearly disclose that it was gifted, using tags like #ADGifted.
