AustRecipes is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
1) Our accessibility measures
- Use of semantic HTML and proper heading structure.
- Text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful images.
- Sufficient color contrast and scalable text.
- Keyboard‑navigable menus and focus indicators.
- Clear link purpose and skip‑to‑content links.
- Descriptive form labels and error messaging.
- Captions or transcripts for multimedia where feasible.
- Avoidance of content that flashes more than three times per second.
2) Ongoing effort
Accessibility is an ongoing effort as we add content and features. We regularly review pages using automated tools (e.g., Lighthouse/axe) and manual checks. We also consider feedback from users and experts.
3) Third‑party services
Some content or features (e.g., embedded videos, ad units, social widgets) are provided by third parties and may be outside our full control. We encourage those providers to offer accessible experiences and work to select accessible solutions.
4) Known limitations
Although we strive for AA compliance, you may encounter issues, especially on older posts. We are actively updating older content to improve headings, alt text, and link clarity.
5) Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need information in an alternative format, please contact us:
- Email: contact@austrecipes.com
- What to include: page URL, description of the issue, your browser/device, and any assistive technology used.
We aim to acknowledge feedback within 5 business days and propose a solution where feasible.
6) Enforcement
If you are in Australia and are not satisfied with our response, you may consider contacting the Australian Human Rights Commission regarding web accessibility concerns.
Thank you for helping us improve accessibility at AustRecipes.
